Grayscale Parents' 200k ZEC Contribution Sets Stage for Controversy
Grayscale has announced discussions with its parent company's subsidiary, DCG International Investments Ltd., to contribute approximately 200,000 ZEC ($577.65 · Live) to its Zcash Trust. The contribution would bring Grayscale into a controlling position if completed.
The trust plans to list on the NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH and has already listed on OTCQX. As of June 30, the net asset value was $155.2 million, with about 2.3% of circulating ZEC held by the trust. The shares closed at $36.6 on August 12, a 7% discount to NAV per share.
DCG has a conflict of interest in this matter, as it mines ZEC and runs infrastructure on the network through its subsidiaries Fortitude Mining and Foundry Digital. This could lead DCG to prioritize its own interests over those of the trust, according to the filing.
