Grayscale Predicts Scarcity for Ethereum and Solana
Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) price actions have been inconsistent, with Ethereum experiencing a slight increase over the previous day but a 2.16% decline over the past week. Meanwhile, Solana saw a slight increase over the previous week but a small decline over the previous day.
Despite this mixed picture, Zach Pandl, Head of Research at Grayscale, suggests that Ethereum and Solana may become more scarce assets due to their respective networks' consideration of lowering annual token production. This would decrease inflation, similar to reducing commodity production, potentially leading to increased value for existing tokens if demand remains constant or rises.
However, stakers may face a trade-off: with fewer new tokens created, they will earn fewer rewards. For example, instead of receiving 5 SOL, they might only get 3 SOL after the decrease in inflation. Yet, the value of those 3 SOL could still surpass the initial 5 SOL if the decreased supply drives up their price.
