Grayscale Seeks NYSE Listing for Zcash ETF Amid ZEC Price Surge
Grayscale filed its fourth amendment to convert its trust into an NYSE Arca exchange-traded fund under the ticker ZCSH. The firm aims to rename its current vehicle as Grayscale Zcash Trust and list its shares on the exchange.
The filing revealed that DCG International Investments Ltd., a subsidiary of parent company Digital Currency Group, is in non-binding talks to acquire nearly 200,000 ZEC units, valued at approximately $110 million. However, these discussions do not constitute a binding purchase commitment, and the investing entity could choose to acquire a larger or smaller amount, or forgo purchasing shares altogether.
The regulatory filing also outlines technical background regarding the June Orchard vulnerability and the rollout of the Ironwood upgrade, which deprecated the affected environment and deployed protections to prevent unauthorized issuance of ZEC units. Grayscale's move adds to a series of regulatory applications submitted by the firm throughout the year, including proposals for staking-yield Avalanche funds, Hyperliquid, and a spot investment product based on Worldcoin.
