Grayscale's Zcash ETF Sees $463M in Assets as ZEC Surges to $1,185
Zcash (ZEC) has seen significant gains in recent days, trading near $1,185 and up 11% over the past 24 hours. This surge has also propelled ZEC into the top ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
Grayscale's Zcash ETF (ZCSH) has been impacted by this rally, with its net assets reaching $463.2 million as of September 4. The fund, which converted from Grayscale's Zcash Trust on August 25, now holds 444,608 ZEC tokens.
Shares of the ETF closed at $83.77 on September 4, up 7.62% for the day. However, they slipped to $82.20 in after-hours trading that evening. The fund's year-to-date return has reached an impressive 166.44%, according to Yahoo Finance.
The launch of ZCSH has made it easier for everyday investors to gain exposure to ZEC without needing a crypto wallet or exchange account. Grayscale's head of index, Steve Vanourny, believes that the growing demand for financial privacy is driving this trend. He notes that 'as AI reshapes how financial activity can be monitored, we believe demand for genuine financial privacy will only grow.'
Zcash has seen a significant rally over the past month, more than doubling in value. However, it remains far below its 2016 all-time high of $3,191.93, leaving room for further gains if inflows continue.
