Grok Integrates Coinbase, Raising Concerns Over AI-Driven Trading
Grok, an AI chatbot on X, has integrated with Coinbase, allowing users to trade assets directly within chat. This integration enables users to check balances, analyze holdings, and place or cancel trades for any listed asset without opening a separate app.
The move comes as crypto content becomes the most-muted topic on X, with users hiding it from their feed through the platform's topic snooze feature. X head of product Nikita Bier attributed part of this fatigue to declining content quality.
The integration between Grok and Coinbase is notable because it gives the AI chatbot actual write access to execute trades, rather than just view portfolio data. However, the level of autonomy remains unclear, with some integrations requiring explicit user approval before funds can move.
