GS Posts Record Q2 Earnings Amid Plans for USD Stablecoin and XRP Investment
Goldman Sachs (GS) has released its second-quarter financial results, revealing a net income of $6.63 billion and revenue of $20.34 billion. This represents a return on equity (ROE) of 23.5% and marks a significant increase in the firm's earnings.
The company attributes its strong performance to active markets and is joining a consortium of 21 banks to develop a USD-pegged stablecoin, aiming for a launch in H1 2027. The stablecoin will have one-to-one reserves, be used on public blockchains, and may have future links with G7 currencies.
Goldman Sachs currently holds $87.4 million worth of XRP ETFs, as stated in regulatory filings. This investment is part of the firm's overall strategy in the cryptocurrency space.
