GSR Dumps ETH, BTC for SOL: Major Crypto Market Maker Shifts Portfolio
Crypto market maker GSR has adjusted its portfolio weights, giving Solana a significant boost while reducing its exposure to Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The adjustments reflect GSR's assessment of relative upside signals and recent price action among the three major digital assets. According to GSR, Solana's weighting was increased to 43.7% as its relative upside signals strengthened and it showed stronger short-term price action compared to its peers.
Ethereum's weighting was reduced to 39.5%, yet it still retains strong short-term performance with the highest 30-day return among the three assets, according to GSR. Bitcoin's weighting was kept at a low 16.9% due to its recent underperformance and weak longer-term trading activity.
GSR noted that all three assets are exhibiting unusually low volatility, with narrow trading ranges persisting across the board. Historically, such compressed volatility often precedes significant price movements, although the direction remains uncertain.
