GTA 6 Leaker's Cryptocurrency Donations Top $60,000
A Grand Theft Auto 6 leaker, known as Cyberleek, has been releasing large segments of the game's gameplay on social media. The leaker claims to be doing this in order to fight against Rockstar's anti-consumer practices, specifically the $100 Ultimate Edition and lack of a physical product.
Cyberleek has set up their own cryptocurrency, which earns them a fee each time a transaction occurs, between 0.21 percent and 0.25 percent of the dollar amount. According to user Vice Cit on GTAForums, Cyberleek broke even in 24 hours after the coin did $15 million in trading volume on day one.
The leaker has since made an estimated $40,000 to $60,000 in trading fees alone, and still has 270,000,000 Cyberleek coins sitting in their wallet with a total value of $391,000. This amount of money was made from Rockstar's potential consumers who were donating to the leaker in order to vote on what leak would come next.
The GTA 6 leaks have been ongoing since Tuesday and have included footage split into five drops so far. The specifics of each leak were voted on by Cyberleek's audience, with some even requiring a purchase in their cryptocurrency in order to participate.
