GTA 6 Leaks Exposed as Cryptocurrency Scheme
A GTA 6 fan has exposed what appears to be a cryptocurrency scheme behind recent gameplay leaks. The leaker, known as 'CyberLeek,' released five alleged GTA 6 gameplay videos and an image of the full map, along with a memecoin called $CYBERLEEK.
The leaker even launched a poll to determine the next leaked video, but you could only vote by sending the memecoin. Vice Cit, a member of the GTAForums, investigated the cryptocurrency side of this story and found that the wallet at the center of all transactions is linked to a well-known exchange that requires KYC verification.
This means whoever funded the creation of the coin had to submit documents verifying their identity, which authorities can subpoena. Vice Cit believes law enforcement can use transaction details and wallet addresses with a subpoena to identify the account holder and potentially crack down on the scheme.
According to Vice Cit, the leaker invested around $29,000 in creating the coin and website, and made back that money on the first day of the leaks. The memecoin has since generated between $40,000 to $60,000 in trading fees per day, with a daily profit of around $4,400.
The leaker's true motivations are being questioned online, with some calling it a cryptocurrency scam from the start. Vice Cit believes that 'the motivation behind this was always money,' and that the gamers' rights messaging was just 'virtue signaling' to gain public support.
