GTA VI Cryptocurrency Rumors Exposed as Misinformation
The rumor that Grand Theft Auto VI will integrate cryptocurrencies has been circulating online. According to some sources, the game may accept payments in USDT or use Solana's blockchain for its economy. However, a closer look at the claims reveals a lack of concrete evidence and a web of misinformation.
The initial mention of USDT dates back to 2024, when an influencer tweeted about the possibility of the game accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT as payment options. However, this claim was never confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two, and it seems to have originated from a speculation that was later denied.
Things took a turn for the worse with the appearance of 'documents' claiming to be from the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and describing a new currency called 'Sharkbux.' These documents were uploaded to the SEC's public comments section, but their authenticity has never been confirmed. In fact, they are no longer available online.
It turns out that Take-Two did create a tokenized version of its stock on Solana, which is a different story altogether. This move was likely meant to increase investor engagement and provide more flexibility for shareholders.
The real culprit behind the misinformation campaign seems to be a memecoin creator who stood to gain from the hype surrounding GTA VI's potential cryptocurrency integration. The person in question created a token that skyrocketed before plummeting, netting them an estimated $250,000.
