Share

A 25-year-old man, Rafiqool Alam, has been arrested by the Gujarat CID in connection with 1,090 cybercrime cases that resulted in over ₹1,071 crores in damages. The investigation linked Alam to a Chinese gang and found that he had distributed the looted money across thousands of bank accounts in India.

The police operation involved a three-day sting and revealed that Alam had converted some portions of the stolen funds into cryptocurrency. Specifically, investigators traced ₹16 crore through 23 cryptocurrency wallets and connected these transactions to the Chinese gang.

Alam allegedly used various methods to launder money, including chip sellers and online game accounts. He also shared sensitive information with his associates via WhatsApp and Telegram. The investigation prevented several victims from making further payments to the fraudsters, potentially saving them from significant losses.
