Gujarat Police Arrest 25-Year-Old Suspect Linked to Over 1,090 Cybercrime Cases
A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the Gujarat Police for his involvement in over 1,090 cybercrime cases that have caused an estimated ₹1,071 crores in damages. Rafiqool Alam was apprehended during a three-day sting operation and was found to be linked to a Chinese gang through cryptocurrency transactions.
Alam allegedly distributed the looted money across thousands of bank accounts in India before converting some portions into cryptocurrency. Investigators traced ₹16 crore through 23 cryptocurrency wallets, which were linked to the Chinese gang.
The police operation began when cyber police helped a person targeted by fraudsters using forged documents. The investigation found that Alam had shared information related to wallets, passwords, and criminal instructions with his Chinese associates via WhatsApp and Telegram.
