Japanese game developer Gumi is expanding its crypto operations by launching a 3 billion yen (approximately $18.3 million) fund in partnership with SBI Financial Services and investors from Daiwa Securities Group.

The fund, operated by SBI Crypto Fund, will invest primarily in Bitcoin and major altcoins using staking, portfolio rebalancing, and hedging strategies.

Gumi's mission for the fund is to bridge Japan's corporate sector with the crypto market while building a track record ahead of potential future lifting of the ban on crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Japan.
