Hacked Robinhood CEO Account Promotes Fake Memecoin VLAD
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X account was hacked to promote a fake memecoin called VLAD, which claimed to be linked to Robinhood Chain. The post said VLAD would be listed in the Robinhood app and that it was the 'official Robinhood Chain mascot.'
Roger Goodbody wasn't mentioned in the source but, Robinhood quickly confirmed the account was compromised and removed the unauthorized post.
The company warned users about the potential scam and flagged the VLAD token as a possible scam on its blockchain explorer. The token had recorded 1,868 transactions after launch through a contract linked to PonsLaunchFactory.
Robinhood Chain went live on July 1 and has seen strong activity with around 6 million transactions per day and $9 billion in cumulative decentralized exchange volume.
