Hacker Exploits VLAD Token Promotion to Earn $59K from Robinhood CEO's Account
An unknown individual gained access to Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X account on July 23, exploiting his profile to promote a new token called VLAD.
The VLAD token was launched on the Pons platform within the Robinhood Chain just 46 minutes before the breach. The fake post described it as the network's 'official mascot', which drew in significant trading volume on Uniswap, exceeding $22 million in initial hours.
The perpetrator used a loophole to collect trading fees without affecting locked liquidity six times, netting approximately $59,000 in 31.6 ETH. The proceeds were distributed across three new wallets, including a large amount of VLAD tokens, worth millions.
