Hackers Return $270M in Bitcoin After Swiping $320 Million from Liquid Network
A group of self-proclaimed 'white hat hackers' has returned nearly $270 million in Bitcoin to the Liquid Network, recovering about 85% of the funds they had previously stolen. The incident began on Sunday when a customer sent 4,000 L-BTC to SideSwap's peg-out service, which was then withdrawn from the network.
The hackers returned 3,400 BTC, worth around $269.2 million, to the federation wallet of Liquid Network on Monday, leaving about $47 million still unaccounted for in the address linked to the withdrawal.
Liquid Network's customers have been affected by this incident, and it remains unclear how the hackers managed to steal the funds in the first place.
