Hackers Return 85% of Stolen Bitcoin from Liquid Bridge Attack
Hackers behind last week's Bridge attack on Liquid returned nearly 85% of the stolen Bitcoin, sending back 3,400 BTC to the network. This move followed a condition set by the attackers, who demanded that Blockstream patch the bridge and update all nodes before releasing the funds.
The transfer occurred after Blockstream responded with a signed message on Monday morning, confirming that the flaw had been fixed and the funds were safe to send back. The coins moved hours later, recorded in block 965,950 at 19:09 UTC.
About 598.5 BTC remains with the Liquid hackers, worth around $47 million at Monday's Bitcoin price near $79,100. Charles Guillemet, chief technology officer at Ledger, expressed skepticism over the white hat label given to the attackers, noting that their silence is what bothers him.
