Hammack's Hawkish Stance Sparks Rate Hike Fears in Crypto Market
Cleveland Federal Reserve President Beth Hammack has called for immediate U.S. interest rate increases, sparking concerns in the crypto market and stocks.
Hammack argued that current borrowing conditions do not sufficiently restrain economic activity, as inflation remains above the Federal Reserve's 2% target.
The July producer price index (PPI) rose 4.7% annually, below the forecasted 4.9%, and down from 5.5% in June.
Hammack previously expressed her hawkish stance on monetary policy during an interview with Yahoo Finance, stating that current interest rates were not meaningfully restricting economic activity.
