Hanwha Completes Tokenized Securities Platform Supporting Avalanche Ahead of South Korea Launch
South Korea is preparing to launch its tokenized securities platform in February 2027, and Hanwha Investment & Securities has completed a major milestone by building a tokenized securities platform supporting Avalanche. The platform was developed with blockchain technology firm FairSquare Lab and allows for the tokenization of various types of securities, including funds, bonds, unlisted stocks, and fractional securities.
The development comes ahead of amendments to South Korea's Electronic Securities Act and Capital Markets Act, which will legally recognize distributed ledgers as securities registers. The platform supports multiple networks, including Avalanche and Hyperledger Besu, an enterprise Ethereum client.
Hanwha has expanded its tokenization investments through stakes in Securitize and Digital Asset. The conglomerate's platform extends the approach to Avalanche, where institutions can establish dedicated networks with controls over participation and validators.
