Hanwha Deploys Tokenized Securities Platform on Avalanche
South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group has launched a tokenized securities platform on the Avalanche blockchain. The platform, which pairs Avalanche's public infrastructure with enterprise blockchain Hyperledger Besu, allows users to record capital market instruments such as stocks and bonds on a distributed ledger.
The launch is part of South Korea's wider push to roll out full-scale tokenized securities trading by February 2027. According to the Financial Services Commission (FSC), this will involve a three-stage rollout starting with privately placed money-market funds, corporate bonds for institutional investors, unlisted stocks issued through a trust structure, and publicly offered fractional-investment securities.
Hanwha's tokenized securities platform is one piece of a broader digital-asset push by the group. Hanwha has accumulated a 9.6% stake in tokenization firm Securitize across three affiliates, making it the largest shareholder. The group's CEO Byung-ho Jang wants to remake the firm into a digital-asset-focused broker built around real-world-asset tokenization.
