Hanwha Develops Tokenized Securities Platform Ahead of South Korean Framework
Hanwha Investment & Securities is developing a multi-network tokenized securities platform that supports Avalanche and Hyperledger Besu, according to reports. This move comes as South Korea prepares to place tokenized securities under its existing capital markets framework in February 2027.
The brokerage began building the platform in 2025 with blockchain technology firm FairSquare Lab. The system was designed to support several networks rather than depend on a single blockchain, giving Hanwha flexibility as the tokenized securities market develops in South Korea.
The Financial Services Commission has announced a three-stage plan for the new framework, which will begin recognizing distributed ledgers as valid securities registers on February 4, 2027. The regulator will start with selected asset classes before allowing broader use across the securities market.
