Hardware Wallet Risks Exposed: Mishaboar's Warning for Dogecoin Investors
A recent incident involving the Coldcard wallet highlighted the risks associated with hardware wallets. Mishaboar, a leading Dogecoin community contributor, warned that simply disconnecting from the internet is not enough to secure your crypto. In fact, if the hardware used to create the keys is compromised, the assets are at risk.
Mishaboar emphasized that an even greater danger lies in generating seed phrases using offline tools on ordinary PCs. This approach provides only an illusion of security unless the hardware itself is fully isolated. If the operating system is infected with malware, the lack of internet connection will only delay the theft of funds.
The expert recommends combining several security methods to maximize Dogecoin safety. For non-technical users, he advises three basic steps: split your balance across different devices from reputable brands, enable a passphrase, and keep physical backups offline. Mishaboar also described an alternative method of creating keys using a manual process that avoids the risk of defective dice.
