Harmony Abandons Blockchain Amid State Actor and AI Threats

Harmony is shutting down its blockchain and migrating to Ethereum after citing threats from state actors and AI agents. The network's native token, ONE, will become an ERC-20 asset on Ethereum.

The decision comes after a series of attacks, including a breach in August that drained $99.6 million from the Horizon Bridge. In response, the team rolled back the chain to recover some funds.

ONE holders do not need to claim new tokens as Harmony will snapshot balances and airdrop them on Ethereum. However, users are advised to exit all smart contracts by September 10.

The network's total supply and emission rate remain unchanged, but future emissions will fund an AI video venture called The Remix Economy. This project aims to create an open library of prompts and assets that fans can fork and AI agents expand into dozens of stories per branch.
