Harmony Abandons Mainnet, Migrates ONE Token to Ethereum Amid Threats
Ethereum's price has remained steady at $2,490 as Harmony, a sharded Layer-1 blockchain that launched in 2019, announced it would sunset its mainnet and migrate its native token, ONE, to Ethereum via an airdrop.
The decision was cited by Harmony as a response to threats from 'state actors and AI agents', with validators given until September 10 to cease node operations. A $1.37 million fund will compensate those who transition into 'governors' for Harmony's proposed next act: a 'remix economy' centered around AI video creators.
Tokens will be snapshotted across wallets, staking delegations, and exchanges before being airdropped 1:1 on Ethereum. This move joins a growing trend of Layer-1 chains folding into Ethereum's settlement layer rather than competing with it.
