Harmony Sets September 10 Deadline for ONE Holders to Exit DeFi Smart Contracts

Harmony has set a September 10 deadline for ONE holders to remove their assets from smart contracts. This move is part of the project's plan to migrate its network and replace existing tokens with ERC-20 equivalents on Ethereum.

The process will automatically cover wallet and exchange balances, but users holding ONE in decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols must withdraw before the deadline. Liquidity pools, multisig vaults, and on-chain applications cannot be transferred due to their complex state and ownership rules.

Eligible validators and delegators may receive payments from a $1.372 million pool over four quarters for shutting down their nodes by September 10. This transition is part of Harmony's plan to retire its Layer 1 network, citing security threats from state-backed attackers and AI agents.
