Harvard Holds Firm on Bitcoin Stake, Maintains $101.4M Position
Harvard University's endowment has maintained its stake in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) despite cutting it by 43% in the prior quarter. According to a 13F filing, Harvard held 3,044,612 shares of IBIT worth $101.4 million as of June 30, unchanged from March 31.
This pause in selling comes after two consecutive quarters of reductions, with the university initially holding 6,813,612 shares at the end of September 2025 and cutting it to 3,044,612 in the first quarter of 2026. Harvard's endowment now holds more value in gold-related products than bitcoin funds, with $171.2 million in gold compared to $101.4 million in IBIT.
Other notable investors in IBIT include the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, which both reported unchanged positions at the end of June. JPMorgan increased its stake in IBIT by 25% over the quarter, while Tudor Investment Corporation's Paul Tudor Jones continued to express his bullish views on bitcoin.
