Harvard Holds Firm on BlackRock Bitcoin Trust Amid Market Volatility

Harvard University has maintained its position in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) despite recent market volatility. The university's endowment held 3,044,612 shares valued at $101.4 million as of June 30, 2026, marking a pause in the two-quarter selloff trend.

The stabilization marks a significant shift after consecutive quarters of reduction. In Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, Harvard's endowment decreased its IBIT holdings by 21% and 43%, respectively. The quarter-over-quarter decline in dollar value was due to bitcoin's price depreciation rather than portfolio rebalancing.

Harvard has shown no interest in rebuilding an Ethereum allocation after completely divesting from BlackRock's spot Ethereum ETF earlier in 2026.
