Hashdex Bitcoin ETF Closure and Liquidation Set for August
Hashdex Asset Management has announced that it will close and liquidate the Hashdex Bitcoin ETF (NYSE Arca: DEFI), citing low assets under management, trading liquidity, operating costs, investor interest, and how the fund fits into its broader index-based product range. The last trading day for DEFI is August 17, 2026, after which trading will be suspended.
The liquidating distribution to shareholders will be calculated based on the net asset value (NAV) of their shares as of the Liquidation Date, minus closing and transaction costs. This amount equals the NAV per share, which reflects bitcoin price changes during the wind-down period.
DEFI holders can review the fund's Form 8-K, press release, Plan of Liquidation, and 424B3 supplement directly on EDGAR to verify the details. The payout window is between August 24 and 28, but this date may be subject to change.
