Hashdex Closes $14.7M Bitcoin ETF Amid Low Assets Under Management
Hashdex Asset Management Ltd. announced plans to close and liquidate its Bitcoin ETF (NYSE Arca: DEFI) due to low assets under management. As of July 30, 2026, the fund held approximately $14.7 million in assets. This decision was made after weighing factors such as trading liquidity, operating costs, investor interest, and how each fund fits within its broader index-based range.
The fund will stop accepting creation orders from authorized participants on August 17, 2026, the last trading day. On this date, shareholders can sell their shares on NYSE Arca through the close of business. Following the final trading day, the fund will sell off its remaining Bitcoin and cease pursuing its investment objective.
The liquidation process is expected to conclude with a cash distribution to investors who still hold shares as of August 17, 2026. This distribution may reflect closing costs and any movements in the price of Bitcoin during the wind-down, which could be substantial.
