Hashdex Closes Spot Bitcoin ETF as Market Trends Shift
Hashdex has announced that its spot Bitcoin ETF, DEFI, will cease trading on August 17, 2026. This marks the first instance of a spot Bitcoin ETF leaving the market.
The fund's assets under management amount to $14.7 million, with a net inflow of $4.27 million. Despite this, its market share does not exceed 0.1%, making it one of the smallest players in the space.
DEFI was initially envisioned as a hybrid fund, allowing it to hold derivatives alongside Bitcoin. However, after trading concludes, the fund will stop accepting applications for new shares and shareholders who do not redeem their shares by the deadline will receive cash compensation.
