Hashdex Liquidates $14.7M Bitcoin ETF Amid Rising US Crypto Inflows
Hashdex's Bitcoin ETF, listed as DEFI on the NYSE Arca exchange, has been liquidated after trading and creation orders ended. The asset manager announced the closure on August 3, and it completed its last day of trading on August 17. As a result, remaining shareholders are waiting for a cash payout rather than an exit through an exchange.
The fund's assets under management were approximately $14.7 million as of July 30. Hashdex considered various factors when making the decision to liquidate, including the fund's asset base, trading liquidity, operating costs, investor interest, and product fit.
This development comes amidst a positive day for other U.S. Bitcoin products. Farside Investors reported $189.3 million of net inflows across Bitcoin ETFs on August 18, with BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) accounting for $143.6 million in inflows.
