Hashdex Liquidates First Spot Bitcoin ETF Amid Market Challenges
Hashdex, an asset manager, has decided to liquidate its DEFI spot Bitcoin ETF. This marks a significant development in the crypto space as it becomes the first spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund to cease operations. The decision was made after considering various factors such as scale, market liquidity, operating expenses, investor demand, and its broader product lineup.
The ETF had approximately $14.7 million in assets under management as of July 30. Trading and new subscriptions for the fund will come to an end on August 17. After that, the fund is scheduled to be removed from NYSE Arca.
Shareholders can expect to receive cash proceeds from the liquidation by or about August 28. The move is likely to have implications for the broader crypto market and investors who had exposure to this particular ETF.
