Hashdex has announced that it will shut down its US-listed Bitcoin ETF, DEFI, due to struggling asset levels and trading activity. The fund held approximately $14.7 million in assets as of July 30.

The final trading day for DEFI is August 17, after which the NYSE Arca will delist its shares. Shareholders who continue holding DEFI shares after this date will receive a cash liquidation payment around August 28.

Hashdex attributed the decision to several factors, including the fund's asset base, trading liquidity, operating expenses, and investor demand. The company's separate $206.8 million NCIQ crypto index ETF remains active.
