Hashdex's spot Bitcoin ETF (DEFI) is set to close on August 17, 2026. This marks the first time a spot Bitcoin ETF has exited the market. The fund will cease trading and be delisted after that date.

According to Hashdex, the fund's assets will be liquidated, and shareholders who do not redeem their shares by the deadline will receive a cash payout. The company emphasized that this closure does not affect its other products, which have around $200 million in assets under management for U.S. investors.

The DEFI fund was initially filed as a conversion of Hashdex's Bitcoin Futures ETF and was designed to hold derivatives on its balance sheet. It currently has AUM of $14.7 million, with net inflows of $4.27 million, but ranks last in this metric, making up less than 0.1% of the market.
