Hassett's Coinbase Holdings Raise Conflict-of-Interest Questions Amid Crypto Push
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett still held between $1 million and $5 million in Coinbase shares at the end of 2025, nearly a year after joining the White House.
Hassett advised Coinbase from 2021 until January 2025, earning over $50,000 in advisory fees along with vested equity stock options for his role on the company's Academic and Regulatory Advisory Council.
The White House has stated that Hassett is recused from all cryptocurrency-related matters and remains in full compliance with ethical requirements, but some have questioned this arrangement due to its potential conflict of interest.
