Hawaii Joins US States Banning Cryptocurrency ATMs
Hawaii has become the latest state to ban cryptocurrency ATMs and kiosks. The law, which goes into effect on October 1, follows similar bans in Minnesota, Tennessee, and Indiana.
The Hawaii State Legislature passed House Bill 1642 in May, with Governor Josh Green signing it into law in July. The legislation aims to curb digital asset scams, which have resulted in significant losses for Americans.
According to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, US citizens suffered over $11 billion in losses from digital asset-related fraud in 2022.
