Hayes' $250,000 Bitcoin Prediction Faces Skepticism from Boockvar
Arthur Hayes, a prominent investor, has predicted that Bitcoin (BTC) will reach $250,000 due to global money printing. He believes this will lead to excess credit flooding into cryptocurrency markets.
However, investor Peter Boockvar countered this prediction by stating that the policy channel Hayes is counting on is already breaking. Boockvar pointed out that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's attempts to suppress long rates are not effective, and the 30-year Treasury yield remains near cycle highs.
The measurable state today does not match a flood of liquidity as Hayes suggests. The Federal Funds target rate upper bound sits at 3.75%, M2 money supply is up only 0.4% from last month, and the 10-year Treasury yield is 4.70%. This contradicts Hayes' thesis that there will be excess credit flushing into crypto markets.
To reach $250,000, Bitcoin must first reclaim its prior cycle high above $111,000, which it has not yet done. The 30-year Treasury yield breaking below 5% is also a key signal to watch, as Hayes needs this to happen for his prediction to come true. If the 30-year holds above 5% into year-end and Bitcoin cannot clear $111,000, the plan behind the $250,000 target will be considered failing.
