Hayes Disowns Fake FLOP Tokens, Airdrop Still Months Away
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, has spoken out against fake FLOP tokens that are currently trading. He confirmed that Flop Labs has not issued a token or run a pre-sale, and any tokens trading under the FLOP name are not legitimate.
Hayes also clarified the timeline for the real FLOP token. The airdrop is expected to happen in a few months, with the mainnet going live next year. He will personally announce the airdrop when it begins and flag the mainnet launch.
The FLOP token is designed as a native currency for AI agents, which would spend on computing power, inference, and memory storage. Miners would supply compute to run AI tasks and earn FLOP through block rewards and fees in return.
Hayes has faced scrutiny over his trading history, including allegations of moving CARDS tokens to a market maker after publicly endorsing the project. He denied any wrongdoing, saying he sold to a willing seller at a price.
