Hayes Warns CLARITY Act Would Centralize Decentralized Bitcoin
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX and CIO of Maelstrom, has publicly opposed the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act, urging President Trump to veto it. According to Hayes, the proposed legislation would not increase Bitcoin's fundamental value and risks centralizing an asset that is meant to be decentralized.
In a statement, Hayes drew a line in the sand: 'If Bitcoin and crypto needed regulations to survive, it wouldn't be worth a dime.'
The CLARITY Act aims to establish clear jurisdictional boundaries between the SEC and CFTC over digital assets. It has already passed the House with a 294-134 vote but its chances of passage have stalled at just 13-18%.
