Hedera Earns Dual Institutional Recognition Amid Rapid Growth
In July 2026, Hedera received two significant institutional recognitions within an eight-day period.
The UK's HM Treasury named Hedera as the country's live tokenized collateral benchmark in its Wholesale Digital Markets Champion report. The report highlighted Hedera's public permissioned architecture, which provides the auditability required by regulated institutions. This recognition is particularly notable given the scale of the UK's financial market, with £5.4 trillion daily in FX and interest rate derivatives.
In addition to this recognition, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) cited Hedera as core settlement infrastructure in its DeFi report. Notably, Hedera did not appear in any adverse contexts in the report, which emphasized rapid DeFi growth and the increasing exploitation of the sector by fraudsters.
Hedera also made significant strides in institutional adoption during July 2026. The Hashgraph Association welcomed several new members, including Taurus, a Swiss custody and infrastructure firm that operates globally with over 40 institutional clients. Taurus enables banks and asset managers to custody and stake HBAR, issue Hedera-based tokenized assets, and connect to institutional workflows under regulatory-grade controls.
Fireblocks activated support for the Hedera Token Service in July 2026, providing institutional clients with native HTS custody. This move follows a series of partnerships and integrations that have positioned Hedera as a leading player in the institutional crypto market.
