HIVE's AI Compute GPUs Outpace Bitcoin Mining Revenue
HIVE Executive Chairman Frank Holmes recently highlighted the significant revenue generated by the company's AI compute GPUs. In comparison, HIVE's bitcoin mining rigs produce roughly $0.12 per hour, a stark contrast to the $2.90 per GPU-hour earned by the same hardware in AI applications.
This disparity has prompted HIVE to direct more of its infrastructure spend toward AI and high-performance computing (HPC) contracts. The company's pivot into AI infrastructure has led to substantial revenue growth, with fiscal 2026 revenue surging 158% to $297.8 million.
HIVE's BUZZ HPC division saw a 94% increase in revenue to $19.5 million, driven by the growing demand for AI compute power. The company is also building a 320-megawatt (MW) AI data center in the Greater Toronto Area, which could generate approximately $360 million in annualized recurring revenue once fully operational.
