HashKey Exchange and YF Life have successfully tested Hong Kong's first regulated stablecoin, HKDAP, for insurance payments. The test transaction used real funds to complete a subscription and redemption process with YF Life Insurance International Limited.

The HKDAP stablecoin is designed to maintain a one-to-one value with the Hong Kong dollar and is backed by eligible Hong Kong dollar reserves held under the regulated structure. HashKey, an authorized distributor of HKDAP, said that traditional premium payments can require two to three business days before settlement is confirmed, while an HKDAP transaction can provide near real-time crediting.

YF Life plans to introduce HKDAP as a premium payment option subject to regulatory requirements and its implementation schedule. HashKey will work with YF Life on the payment model, aiming to make it one of the first insurance companies in Hong Kong to accept the regulated stablecoin for premiums.
