HKMC Publishes Social Bonds Impact Report with PwC Assurance
The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited (HKMC) has released its Social Bonds Allocation Update and Impact Report 2026, detailing the allocation of net proceeds from its 2023 and 2024 social bond issuances. PricewaterhouseCoopers provided independent assurance on the allocation and some disclosed data.
The report covers two bond issuances, including Hong Kong's largest-ever 30-year HKD social bond issued in November 2025 as part of a broader HK$25.3 billion multi-currency deal. Proceeds from these issuances have been earmarked for projects aligned with HKMC's Social, Green and Sustainability Financing Framework.
The framework focuses on affordable housing, access to essential services, and SME financing, key areas of focus for social bonds globally. The report highlights the tangible social outcomes achieved through funded projects, a critical factor for investors assessing the bonds' alignment with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.
