HNIs Drive Shift From Trading to Investing in India's Crypto Market
India's crypto market is undergoing a significant shift from trading to investing, driven by high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) who are increasingly treating digital assets as long-term investments rather than short-term trading options.
BitDelta India CEO Vikaas Sachdeva notes that HNIs and family offices have already begun allocating small amounts into crypto, with the potential to eventually turn into a bigger shift toward long-term crypto investments in India.
The Indian crypto market has traditionally been dominated by short-term trading due to the sharp price movements of digital assets like Bitcoin and the lack of a familiar investment framework. However, Sachdeva believes that as HNIs become more comfortable with crypto, they will increase their exposure and focus on managing risk, choosing assets, and taking a longer-term approach.
Sachdeva also emphasizes the need for regulatory clarity, better understanding, and enhanced investment products to boost confidence in the Indian crypto market and encourage larger allocations from HNIs. He suggests that investors should treat crypto as a smaller part of a diversified portfolio due to its volatility.
