HODL Bitcoin ETF Ends Zero-Fee Period After Failing to Hit Growth Target
VanEck's Bitcoin ETF, trading as HODL, has ended its zero-sponsor-fee period. The waiver expired on July 31 after failing to reach a target of $2.5 billion in net assets, which would have kept the fee at zero.
The fund currently has $1.076 billion in net assets, leaving it $424 million short of the threshold. This means that all HODL trust assets will now incur a 0.20% sponsor fee.
At this rate, an investor would pay around $2.15 million in annual sponsor fees if the fund's assets remained flat. For every $10,000 invested, the fee amounts to about $20 per year.
HODL's new fee structure will match that of the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF but sit above the Franklin Bitcoin ETF's 0.19% fee and below the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF's 0.25% fee.
