Hong Kong Opens Up to Retail XRP Trading with OSL Launch
OSL, Hong Kong's first Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) licensed exchange, has become the first in the city to offer retail XRP trading. The move makes OSL HK a regulated platform where everyday investors can buy and sell XRP within a controlled framework.
The launch of retail XRP trading on July 29 marked a significant step in Hong Kong's effort to establish itself as a regulated, crypto-friendly financial hub. Since introducing its virtual asset licensing regime in 2023, the city has gradually expanded access to digital assets for retail investors.
XRP is now available alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana on approved platforms in Hong Kong, further highlighting the growing trend towards regulated digital assets and increasing institutional involvement in the space. OSL offers over-the-counter (OTC) trading in both XRP/USD and XRP/HKD, with customers able to make deposits and withdrawals directly on the XRP ledger network.
Previously, only professional investors could trade XRP on OSL. The platform now welcomes retail users, operating fully under Hong Kong's regulatory system. This move is seen as a major milestone in Hong Kong's bid to become a leading hub for digital assets.
