Hoskinson Confirms Cardano Hard Fork and Midnight Network Launch
Cardano (ADA) founder Charles Hoskinson confirmed that the network is on track for a hard fork next month. The Leios scalability upgrade, which has been eagerly anticipated by the community, remains scheduled for delivery sometime this year.
Hoskinson addressed the protocol schedule directly during a recent livestream, stating that 'Cardano hard fork is happening I believe next month.' He framed the coming weeks as a convergence of two parallel tracks: protocol and developer-stack upgrades on one side, and the Midnight network launch on the other.
The Midnight network launch is expected to bring significant changes to the Cardano ecosystem. Hoskinson described it as 'a project unusually difficult to ship even for teams with experience launching major chains.' However, he remains optimistic about its prospects, stating that it will be launched next month.
In related news, Hoskinson pointed to a newly announced LayerZero integration that connects Cardano to more than 80 blockchains. He also highlighted the benefits of USDCx, a stablecoin-like asset designed for non-EVM systems, which preserves 'privacy' and 'can't be frozen.'
