Hoskinson Hunts for Governance Fixes as Cardano's Funding Fight Escalates
Charles Hoskinson has launched a comprehensive review of governance models across over 11,000 decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) in an effort to revamp Cardano's (ADA) internal dispute resolution processes.
The move comes as the network is facing a tense funding fight over an Input Output Global treasury proposal, which is currently tracking towards defeat with only 13% of Delegated Representatives voting in favor. The proposal seeks $32.9 million to fund Cardano's research roadmap for 2026, including quantum security and scaling work.
Hoskinson has warned that if the proposal fails, IOG will not resubmit it, which could lead to layoffs and the closure of some research labs. In response, he is considering registering as a Delegated Representative (DRep) himself, giving him a direct vote in Cardano's on-chain system.
The review aims to address structural issues within the network rather than quick fixes, drawing on thousands of DAO models to inform potential amendments to Cardano's constitution and roadmap-setting processes. This comes after months of strain within the Cardano community over governance direction, including disagreements on how IOG handled the Cardano Foundation.
