Hoskinson Sees Crypto Thriving Under Any Administration
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson is confident that the cryptocurrency industry can thrive under any administration in Washington, D.C. He pointed out that crypto has survived both the Biden and Trump administrations, citing its decentralized nature as a key factor.
Hoskinson's statement reflects his long-held view that the market should not be overly reliant on political leadership. While governments can influence regulation, market conditions, and institutional adoption, he believes they cannot easily eliminate an industry built on decentralized technology.
The Cardano founder has been critical of both Democratic and Republican approaches to cryptocurrency policy. During the Biden administration, the crypto industry faced significant regulatory pressure from the SEC under former Chairman Gary Gensler. However, Bitcoin and other blockchain networks continued to develop, with many major crypto assets reaching record highs in 2021.
Hoskinson has expressed concerns about Trump's personal involvement in cryptocurrency, which he believes risks turning crypto into a partisan issue. He also questioned the administration's proposal to expand the U.S. government's cryptocurrency reserves beyond Bitcoin, arguing that the government should not actively select winners and losers among digital assets.
