Hoskinson Sounds Warning on Bitcoin's Quantum Threat
Hoskinson, co-founder of Cardano and one of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization alongside Ethereum, expressed concerns about Bitcoin's ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
'The problem with Bitcoin is that it’s stuck in time,' he said, as quoted by forklog.com. This conservatism could ultimately work against 'digital gold' as it faces a real risk from quantum computers.
The $1.3 trillion asset may only survive if its network governance prioritizes meaningful progress. A failed hard fork would inevitably harm Bitcoin's value and potentially cost it its top spot in the market.
Hoskinson acknowledged that Bitcoin has weathered significant threats, but emphasized that quantum computers could be a hurdle too high to overcome.
